Abongile, medical aesthetician and somatologist, with the clinical team

Meet Abongile

Medical aesthetician & somatologist

Abongile is a medical aesthetician with six years of experience working in clinical settings alongside medical doctors across Cape Town, Pretoria and Johannesburg. She specialises in advanced aesthetic treatments, assists doctors with medical and cosmetic procedures, supports patients with pre- and post-procedure care, and provides personalised medical-grade skincare recommendations tailored to individual clinical needs.

Based on Dr Spengane’s diagnosis and recommendations, Abongile carries out suitable aesthetic and supportive treatments within her scope of practice, and provides prescribed treatment support, professional skincare guidance, and ongoing pre- and post-treatment care.

A dermatologist is a medical specialist who diagnoses and treats diseases of the skin, hair and nails. A somatologist provides skin therapies within their training and scope of practice. The roles complement each other, but are not interchangeable.

Advanced skin and body treatments

Advanced skin and body treatments, chemical peels and microneedling designed to support the overall health, appearance, texture and tone of the skin. Suitability, possible irritation, recovery and aftercare are discussed before any treatment.

Hair-loss treatments

Specialised hair-loss treatments aimed at addressing concerns related to thinning hair and hair loss. An assessment with the clinical team helps determine which approach is appropriate for you.

IPL and Lumecca laser treatments

Light-based treatments that target a range of common skin concerns. These treatments can be used to help improve the appearance of pigmentation, sun damage, redness, vascular concerns, uneven skin tone, and overall skin clarity.

Preparing for treatment

Tell the clinical team about your current medicines and skin products, allergies, pregnancy, recent procedures and relevant health conditions during your consultation — not through the website.

Ask about expected downtime, sun protection and the costs of a proposed treatment plan.

Microneedling

What microneedling aims to address

  • Collagen and elastin production
  • Appearance of enlarged pores
  • Skin texture
  • Fine lines
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Acne scarring

Before

Avoid retinoids, exfoliants and sunburn for several days beforehand, and share your medicines and skin history at consultation.

Afterwards

Redness and tightness similar to mild sunburn are common for one to three days. Results vary and several sessions may be suggested.

Aftercare

Use gentle cleansing, a bland moisturiser and daily SPF 50. Avoid make-up, heat and heavy exercise for 24 hours.

Suitability is assessed individually. This is general information and does not replace professional medical advice.

We look forward to meeting you

Let’s take care of your skin.
